Scott Becker
Attorney, Media entrepreneur, Founder of Becker’s Healthcare
Scott Becker is an attorney, media entrepreneur, and leading voice in healthcare business who founded Becker’s Healthcare, one of the most influential information platforms for hospitals, health systems, and healthcare executives. A longtime partner at McGuireWoods in Chicago, he built a national practice in healthcare transactional and regulatory law, representing hospitals, surgery center chains, large medical groups, and private equity firms while simultaneously growing a specialized media enterprise.
Trained as both a lawyer and accountant, Becker earned his JD from Harvard Law School and a BS in finance and accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, grounding his career at the intersection of law, business, and complex healthcare finance. In the early 1990s, he began publishing niche content for the ambulatory surgery center sector as a way to build thought leadership, then steadily expanded into hospitals, health systems, orthopedics, spine, health IT, and digital health, ultimately creating a diversified media company with conferences, newsletters, podcasts, and digital platforms.
As founder and publisher, Becker helped grow Becker’s Healthcare into a large organization with a dedicated leadership team, including CEO Jessica Cole, while he now serves as chief content officer and remains deeply involved in editorial direction and industry engagement. He also hosts the Becker Private Equity & Business Podcast, where he interviews leaders across healthcare, private equity, and broader business, extending his role as a connector and interpreter of trends for executives and investors. Throughout his career, Becker has emphasized niche expertise, consistent content creation, and trust-building as the foundation of both legal practice and entrepreneurial success in healthcare media.
