Larry Shell
Larry Shell is a retired nurse with 28 years experience living in the greater Chicago area. He is a gay man in his 60s. He first became aware of his sexual orientation in Junior High. After high school he enlisted in the US Navy. While enlisted, he applied for and received an NROTC scholarship and was accepted at Northwestern University.
In 1986 a fellow Midshipman reported him for being homosexual. He was the first Navy midshipman to be separated for being gay. His case went all the way to the Secretary of the Navy, John Lehman for review.
While finishing school he worked at Windy City Times, one of the LGB publications in Chicago at the time.
He returned to school for his Nursing Degree and worked at hospitals in Chicago before moving to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula in 1998 where he lived for twenty years before returning to the Chicago area.
He is a budding Gender Critical activist and joins us to share his thoughts on (insert your preferred description for trans ideology) as an older gay man.
