Bill G. Schuette
Michigan State Representative- 95th District
State Representative Bill G. Schuette currently serves the people of the State of Michigan as Representative for Michigan’s 95th District. He was first elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in November 2022.
Rep. Schuette serves as Chair of the House Rules Committee. He also serves on the House Finance Committee, the House Insurance Committee and the House Judiciary Committee.
At the start of the 2025-26 legislative term, Schuette was appointed Chair of the House Select Committee on Protecting Michigan Employees and Small Businesses. Through his role as Chair, Schuette led the formation of reforms that protected tip worker wages and small businesses in response to a damaging previous ruling from the Michigan Supreme Court.
Schuette is also a member of the Michigan Legislative Council, a bipartisan, bicameral body of legislators that provides bill drafting, research and other services to members of the Legislature. Just six members of the Michigan House are selected to serve on the council.
Schuette is also the Chair Emeritus of the House Republican Campaign Committee. Last election cycle, Schuette lead the statewide effort to help Michigan House Republicans win back a majority in the State House. Under Schuette’s leadership, Michigan was the only legislative chamber to flip from Democrat to Republican control on Election Day in 2024.
Bill G. Schuette is a lifelong Midlander. Schuette attended Midland Public Schools K-12 and graduated from Dow High School.
Bill was Class President and played on the Varsity Football and Track teams. He earned his B.S and M.A. with honors from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.
Schuette then served as an Intelligence Officer for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) where he worked as one of the agency’s leading counter-drug analysts and was sent to Mexico in support of U.S. Special Operations Command. In 2020, the DIA deployed Schuette to the Middle East in support of Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve, which was the U.S. military’s principal counter-ISIS force.
Following his support of our counter-terror forces, Schuette returned to Midland and worked on the Public Policy team of Dow, Inc., where he identified emerging geopolitical developments and their potential impact on the company’s business goals.
Schuette enjoys running, deer hunting and volunteering with the Midland Area Community Foundation. He is a Trustee on the Rollin M. Gerstacker Foundation and a member of the Michigan Farm Bureau and Midland Business Alliance.
